Team Headshot & Branding Session: Village Family Dental & Orthodontics
When Village Family Dental and Orthodontics was going through a rebranding process in 2023, including new brand colors, an updated logo and revised website, they also wanted fresh, new branding images and team headshot portraits to match the modern, welcoming and friendly aesthetic of their new brand. So they reached out to us for a team headshot and branding session. And I’m so glad they did!
What was the magic behind Village Family Dental’s branding session with Kelly Kendall Studios? Here are a few things that helped make their session a huge success.
1. Pre-Session Planning and Creating a List of Desired Images
For our branding session clients, most of the planning is done in advance of the actual shoot day. For Village Family Dental’s photoshoot, we did an in-person planning meeting a few weeks in advance to create a specific list of images (called a “shot list”) that they needed for their new website layout, social media platforms and other uses. From there, we were able to create a schedule for the day – including time slots for individual doctor headshots, branding images around the clinic with each dentist and a client, and group photos of 2-3 dentists.
2. Authentic Locations that Patients Will Recognize
Village Family Dental boasts a team of seven incredible dentists, each bringing their unique charm to the practice. To capture the authenticity of their day-to-day, we decided to ditch the studio and head straight to one of their clinics. That way, we could capture the essence of each doctor’s personality in their genuine work environment and create images that patients will recognize when they come for their visits.
3. Individual Headshot Portraits with Personality
The dentists had a vision they wanted their portraits to reflect the friendly atmosphere of their practice. So we ditched the formalities and created headshots that showcased their smiles, friendliness and compassion. The result? Portraits that not only featured their professional knowledge but also the warmth that makes them stand out.
4. Professional Hair and Makeup Artistry On Location
Understanding the importance of feeling confident, especially in front of the camera, Village Family Dental was pampered with professional hair and makeup artistry by the amazing Emily Anne Artistry. Her magical touch in hair and makeup ensured that each person who stepped in front of the camera got a spritz of hair spray, a lint roll and a dash of powder on any shiny skin. Plus, each woman who got full professional hair and makeup services felt not just camera-ready but radiantly comfortable in their own skin!
5. Small Group Images Combined to Create One Impactful Group Photo
With seven busy schedules spread out over the course of one day, getting a full group shot was a puzzle. So, we got creative, taking smaller group photos and weaving them into a beautiful composite that reflected the teamwork and collaboration at the core of Village Family Dental.
We also crafted small group composites for each clinic location and specialty, highlighting the unique team of doctors at each of Village Family Dental’s locations in Prairie du Sac, Black Earth and Spring Green as well as its specialized orthodontic practice.
6. Real-Life Branding Images Featuring Doctors and Patients
Village Family Dental wanted more than just headshots; they wanted lifestyle branding images that spoke to the heart of their practice. So, we spent the day capturing not just dental expertise but also the shared moments of laughter, teamwork, and the innovative spirit that defines their clinic.
